ROTARY
CLUBS FAMILY MONTH
The
members of Donaghadee Rotary Club have designated December as their Family
Month. Their activities commenced on Friday the 2nd with a dinner
party organised by and for the member’s wives. This event raised over £400
for charity. That
same weekend also saw the start of the clubs “Santa” activities at
Donaghadee Garden Centre during which the club members provided a “Santa”
and a helper to distribute presents supplied by the garden centre. It is hoped
that this event will raise £3000 for Donaghadee Lifeboat. Santa was present
again last weekend and hopes to be there again this weekend. The club President
Peter Irwin would like on behalf of the club to apologise to the parents of the
12 year old boy who was asked by Santa if he wanted a Playboy for Christmas.
Santa either had a senior moment of got confused between his Play station and
his Game Boy. On Sunday the club along with Donaghadee Male Voice Choir held what has now become an annual Donaghadee Community Carol Service in the Parish Church. The Rev Ian R Gamble conducted the service and the Rotary Club supplied mince pies and tea after the service. The freewill offering raised £465 to be donated to the Bishops Appeal for the Pakistani earthquake. |
