OPEN NIGHT AT ROTARY CLUB

On 14.10.2010. The members of The Rotary Club of Donaghadee invited 14 guests drawn from local churches, primary schools, youth clubs and the local press to an Open Evening at The Stables Groomsport.

On welcoming the guests President Richard Caldwell explained that The Rotary Club of Donaghadee is keen to play a greater role within the local community.

After a meal and the normal Rotary meeting Rotarian Alistair Johnston read out the Objects of Rotary.  President Richard then explained how Rotary was formed in 1905 in Chicago and how it is now the world’s premier service organisation. Helping people in their local communities and worldwide, while forming long term friendships with club members by working together.

The four service chairs then gave a PowerPoint presentation on what their individual projects entailed.

David Cochrane                             Community and Vocational

Frazer Menzies                              Rotary Foundation

Bill Best                                           Youth Opportunities

Alistair Johnston                            International

After the presentations President Richard asked the guests if they had any ideas as to how the club could work with their school or organisation. In closing the meeting he invited the guests to visit the club anytime, in the hope that someday they may even join Rotary.
