On Saturday 3 July 2010, a small band of Rotarians from Donaghadee travelled to Grantham in Lincolnshire for a return visit under the informal twinning arrangement we have with R C of Grantham. We were met at East Midlands Airport and transported to Grantham. After a leisurely lunch and a walk around Grantham viewing amongst other historical venues the beautiful Parish Church of St Wulfram's and the building where Margaret Thatcher was born, previously a grocers run by her father who was a founder member of The Rotary Club of Grantham. In the evening we were hosted at a most enjoyable dinner party at the home of Linda Wright who's late husband Doug sadly passed away in April 2010. He was President Elect of the club and visited Donaghadee two years ago with the other Grantham members. We rose early on Sunday morning and were collected by coach and spent the day in the company of some Grantham Rotarians at the annual air display at RAF Waddington near Lincoln. The weather was superb and we all had a very enjoyable day - it was a spectacular event. On the Monday we attended the weekly lunchtime meeting of Rotary Club of Grantham and after an enjoyable lunch and good fellowship, we were transported back to East Midlands airport for our flight home.
