Handover to President Mark Brooks
At Donaghadee Rotary clubs weekly meeting on 29/06/06 the outgoing president Peter Irwin installed that well known Donaghadee Restaurateur, philanthropist, aspiring politician and all round good guy Mark Brooks as President for the incoming Rotary year. Before handing over the presidency Peter thanked the entire club and particularly the council members for their assistance throughout what he thought had been a worthwhile year. President Mark Brooks first task was to install Garth Arnold as the president elect. Mark then congratulated the outgoing president on a successful year in office. He highlighted the Flag Day, which he recalled was very well organised. He asked that his thanks be conveyed to Peter’s wife Sue for organising the ladies last year and also a special thanks to Catherine Best on her handbag night, which was another memorable event. He also mentioned that Peter had been responsible for introducing three new members to the club during his presidency. Mark then stated that he was going to try and keep the club together and endeavour to raise money for those less fortunate. He hoped that the club members would learn more about Donaghadee during his year in office. He mentioned that he would try to take the club to as many new venues locally as possible. Mark then outlined his prospective programme for the year, which is detailed on the club web site. All the members congratulated Mark when he invited them to join him for a dink at the bar.
