DISTRICT GOVERNOR VISITS DONAGHADEE ROTARY CLUB

District Governor Frank Arnold visited Donaghadee Rotary Club last week. In his welcome address President Les Jones congratulated the District Governor on the success of his recent conference in Belfast and thanked all those who had helped to organise it.

The District Governor in his opening remarks said that it was good to be back in Donaghadee and noted that the club was still as irreverent as ever and hoped that it would never change.

He then stated that he was proud to lead the district this year and as he went around the clubs he was not meeting Presidents but friends.

He pointed out that the International President Jonathan Majiyagbe`s theme for this year is lend a hand.

1) To alleviate poverty.

This year we have chosen to do this in our own community by helping to raise the self-esteem of the job seeker by the donation of clothing.

2) To educate the illiterate

Supplying wind up radios to third world countries can do this.

3) To eradicate the scourge of disease

Our aim is the eradication of Polio by 2005.

4) Rotary Families

To lend the hand of fellowship to all rotary families this responsibility has been given to the Vice President of each club to involve family members in Rotary.

The District Governor then presented President Les Jones with a Banner and a Linen Damask tray cloth from Banbridge.

President Les then presented the District Governor with a Donaghadee banner and a print of Donaghadee harbour.
