The Webmaster has just returned from the 77th Annual District 1160 Conference in the Waterfront Hall and Hilton Hotel, Belfast. I am delighted to report that Donaghadee Club has again been awarded the District Attendance Trophy for 2002-2003, the fourth year in succession. This is awarded to the Club in Ireland with the highest weekly meeting attendance. The Trophy was accepted by Alistair Johnston, Immediate Past President who said that whilst he was honoured to accept the Trophy on behalf of the club yet again, he was issuing a challenge for another club to relieve Donaghadee of it in the current Rotary Year. The annual conference was highly successful, excellent venues and superb organisation led to a memorable and enjoyable experience. The hundreds of visiting Rotarians from all over Ireland and Great Britain were very impressed by Belfast's undeniable and deserved reputation of being one of Europe's premiere conference venues. Donaghadee was well represented at the various plenary sessions, the District Governor's Reception and Ball in the City Hall, District Governor's Concert in the Spires Conference Centre and the Ecumenical Conference Service in St Anne's Cathedral, not to mention a guided tour of certain historical establishments in the city centre on Saturday afternoon! We congratulate District Governor Frank Arnold and his team on a great weekend.
