President Brooks Visits Stormont

On Thursday 14/9/06 President Mark Brooks, that master of scintillating sarcasm and rapid repartee presided at Donaghadee Rotary’s Club weekly meeting.  The venue for the meeting was the magnificent Long Gallery at Parliament Buildings.

The members, partners and guests from Bangor Rotary Club were welcomed at a drinks reception by Alderman R.L. Cree M.B.E. M.L.A. held in the Grand Hall.  Melanie Coffee then took the party on a tour of the Parliament Buildings.  Melanie gave a most informative commentary throughout the tour.

After a buffet dinner in the Long Gallery, President Mark welcomed his guests who included District Governor Howard Caskie, Anne Monson President of Bangor Inner Wheel, Maurice Brooks President of Belfast Rotary Club and John Gray President of Bangor Rotary Club.

The District Governor in his address outlined the programme and arrangements for the forthcoming district conference to be held in Londonderry 28th Sept to 1st Oct.

In view of the number of different venues that Donaghadee Rotary Club have had over recent years, the members suspect that the trip to Parliament Buildings may have been a scouting expedition by President Mark in case the building becomes available to the club after November 24th 2006.
