Lighthouse Summer School Outing
On Wednesday 9 August 2005, a beautiful summer evening, we escorted the pupils, parents conductors, helpers and friends of the Lighthouse Summer School on their now annual trip around the Copeland Islands. The Lighthouse Summer School takes place in Donaghadee during July and August. It is organised for the benefit of children with cerebral palsy. The children are under the instruction of conductors trained at the Peto Institute in Hungary. This year the children were able to see not only the usual wild life of seals and birds but also porpoises (cousins of dolphins) that had been observed of the Copeland’s all last week. After the boat trip on “The Brothers” the party were treated to a meal at Pier 36. After the meal Laura one of the
pupils presented President Peter Irwin with a thank you card. The card that had
been signed by all her fellow pupils will be displayed along with the club
banners. The club members would like to thank Quinton Nelson for the use of his boat “The Brothers”. Denis and Margaret Waterworth and their staff at Pier 36 for their invaluable help with the evening.
