2005 Community Service Award

Last week’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Donaghadee was a Ladies Night at which the 2005 Community Service Award was presented to Mrs Dawn McIlveen in recognition of her work for the PTA of Donaghadee Primary School. She was nominated by the Headmaster, Mr Edwin Barr who addressed the club members and wives giving the following reasons for the nomination:-  

Dawn Mcllveen has been one of the most involved and supportive parents at Donaghadee Primary School over the past 12 years. As a member of the Parent Teacher Association she attends regularly and is always willing to organise events or support others. Dawn manages the School Shop selling uniforms and stationery; she organises refreshments at the Sports Day; purchases gifts for Christmas presents, Mothers’ Day and Fathers’ Day; helps plan our annual Firework display and fairs. Dawn ensures that the children are not forgotten in any fundraising event and is always the last to leave when setting up for an event or clearing up afterwards.

Dawn is a practical person and has skills in organisation, catering and people management.All the staff in DPS appreciate her support and interest in the school and would wish her to be recognised through this Community Award.  

President Norwood Steele then presented Dawn with the Award following which the Rotarians & wives were entertained by raconteur Terence McKeague.
